His Grandfather Predicted Greatness At Age Three. Madhurendra Kumar Just Proved Him Right

A grandfather's early prediction about a three-year-old in rural Bihar has played out: Madhurendra Kumar now holds 12 world records in sand and leaf art.

When Madhurendra Kumar was three, his late grandfather, Ramchandra Sah, watched him draw birds and animals in the dirt and on a slate and said the boy would become a great artist. That prediction has become public fact: Madhurendra now holds 12 world records and has taken sand and leaf art from rural Bihar to more than 25 countries.

The Prediction

  • Age when talent showed: three
  • Early medium: drawings on the ground and on a writing slate
  • Subjects: birds and animals
  • Who saw it first: late grandfather Ramchandra Sah
