Volkswagen Tayron Life Launched at Rs 41.99 Lakh: Five Seats, Same 204hp Engine

Volkswagen India has launched the Tayron Life, a five-seat entry-level variant of its Tayron SUV, priced at Rs 41.99 lakh ex-showroom — about Rs 5 lakh less than the range-topping R-Line. The SUV will be locally built at Volkswagen’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar plant in Maharashtra and will compete with the Skoda Kodiaq and Jeep Meridian.

The most notable change from the R-Line is the removal of the third row, turning the Tayron Life into a five-seater. Feature levels otherwise remain largely intact: a 15-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, three-zone automatic climate control, powered front seats with ventilation and massage functions, dual wireless smartphone charging pads, a 360-degree camera, nine airbags and a Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System.

Styling changes are limited to the exterior. Without the R-Line’s sport package, the front grille, wheel arch cladding and rear bumper trim skip the gloss-black finish, and the front bumper gets a revised look with L-shaped grille inserts and a silver trim piece below the grille. Matrix LED headlamps, the illuminated VW logo and the full-width LED light bar all carry over unchanged.

At 4,792mm long with a 2,789mm wheelbase, the Tayron Life rides on 18-inch alloy wheels — one inch smaller than the R-Line’s. The cabin retains the same layout apart from missing R-Line badging, and sound duties are handled by an 8-speaker system instead of the R-Line’s 11-speaker Harman Kardon setup.

Powering the Tayron Life is the same EA888 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine used in the R-Line, producing 204hp and 320Nm, mated to a 7-speed DCT gearbox that drives all four wheels. Bookings are open now, both online and through dealerships, with deliveries expected soon.
