Karnataka Just Opened 1087 Teacher Posts — Applications Start 15 July

The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has released the KREIS Teacher Recruitment 2026 notification on behalf of the Karnataka Residential Educational Institutions Society (KREIS), opening up 1087 teacher vacancies across residential schools statewide.

The 1087 posts are split across two separate notifications dated 10 July 2026 — 767 posts under the Rest of the State (RPC) cadre, and 320 posts under the Kalyana-Karnataka (KK) local cadre. Vacancies span subject categories including language, science, mathematics, social science, and physical education teachers.

Online applications open on 15 July 2026 and close on 13 August 2026, through the official KEA portal at kea.kar.nic.in or cetonline.karnataka.gov.in. Candidates need a relevant Bachelor’s degree, a B.Ed qualification recognised by the National Council for Teacher Education, and a valid Karnataka Teacher Eligibility Test (KARTET) or equivalent TET certificate to apply.

Working knowledge of Kannada is required under Karnataka Government recruitment rules, and applicants must generally be domiciled in the state as per applicable reservation and residency norms. The minimum age to apply is 18 years, with the maximum age limit and any relaxations for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD/Ex-Servicemen candidates specified in the official notification.

Selection runs through an online written examination covering subject knowledge, teaching aptitude and Kannada/English language sections, followed by document verification and a final merit list before school allotment and appointment orders are issued.

KREIS, set up under Karnataka’s Social Welfare Department, runs a statewide network of residential schools modelled on Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, offering free boarding, lodging and education to children from socially and economically weaker sections, including SC, ST and OBC communities.
